Just some tidbits from our lives this first part of 2010.
A few days after the new year, we took Grandma B. to the hospital with severe abdominal pain. She ended up having surgery two days later. At 87, this was pretty hard on her. She is now at home recovering, but very slowly. She is hoping to eventually get back to hairdressing, but has to regain her strength and endurance. This has been a stressful 3 weeks for our family, trying to juggle the regular school/work routines and helping Grandma. But, we are soooo thankful she is back home next door!
This is the year Hannah is hoping to travel abroad. She has applied to go to France as a foreign exchange student through school. If she gets accepted into the program, we will be keeping an exchange student at our home this fall for 3 months. I do not speak a word of French, so will have to rely on my kids to help with the interpreting. (They have all started speaking French since first grade.)
I am finally going to have surgery on my knee. I have been putting it off for over a year now, but since my hip has started bothering me, I thought I'd better do it. I just wish I could skip the whole recovery part of it. This is a 2 stage surgery; the first one will be to repair the cartilage and determine how much arthritis I have, and the second one will be repair the ACL. If only I hadn't been so hard on those knees in high school!
Andrew is REALLY enjoying his new found freedom in having his own wheels! We haven't seen him much these past two weeks since he got his G2. I am wondering if he might slow down after he has to fill up the van a couple of times at $70 a crack. He is contemplating putting straight pipes on that old gal : ) At least I would hear him come home at night!
