Good Memories

Good memories in the summer playing in the sandbox, just hoping the kitties haven't been there recently!
Doing dishes ALWAYS brings good memories, especially with your brother. Just glad their faces didn't stick that way!
Good memories of my first day as a Canadian citizen.

Just. . .

. . . relaxing this Sunday evening after a super busy week. We have had some awesome weather and have spent much of our free time outside enjoying it.

Today, we went to the late service at church (they have two morning services to accommodate the growing congregation). The youth pastor had the service and it was really great. It is sooooo refreshing to go to a church that feels sooooo alive and real! We then came home and spent the afternoon riding the horses. Those that don't ride were in the house playing Guitar Praise, which is a Christian version of Guitar Hero. (It is very neat; it has over 50 Christian songs for the kids to learn on the guitar). Jim has been busy working on his dirt bike. He is currently modifying his using parts from a few bikes he bought that have no engine.

Daniel and Julia spent a good part of yesterday cleaning pig/cattle trailers for Earle. They are hungry for the money and like the work. Julia is the perfect height for cleaning out the double decked pig trailer. I went on two trail ride with Dixie, both with friends I have been wanting to come over for awhile.

I am really busy at work. We are down to less than half of our staff. One coworker is in Europe, another had a death in the family, and another is off on maternity leave (which is 12 months up here). I am learning a lot filling in areas I don't normally work.

Easter Weekend

Today is the last day of our Easter Weekend. We had Good Friday and Easter Monday off from work/school, so we have been enjoying the free time. Yesterday, we had Jim's family over for our family Easter dinner. It was good to get together, even though we were missing a few.

We have had some nice sunny (although cold) weather and longer daylight, which has allowed us to do outdoor activities in the evenings. Daniel, Andrew and Jim have gotten their (pedal)
bikes out and have been doing some biking. This past winter, Daniel and I had taken our broken bikes to a community bike repair shop and had fixed them up again, better than new. Jim has taken a liking to my bike (a lot lighter with an aluminum frame) and I see we will have to fight over it when we both go riding.

Julia and Leah have been working with their ponies trying to get ready for some pony club activities. Dakota is working out well and will be a great all around pony. I may have to buy him from Leah to be Julia's next pony.

We recently got a Wii for the kids. They have been having a great time playing it, but hasn't been too much. I am glad to see they still enjoy doing other activities as well. They did get it out when their cousins were here yesterday and had a fun time playing with them. The boxing game is really a workout and the bowling can make your arm sore. It really is fun for moms, too!

Dakota

Here are some photos of Leah's new pony, Dakota. He is a 9 year old Haflinger/Welsh cross. He seems very nice, but needs a bit of refreshing as his previous owners did not ride him much. Leah is looking forward to re-training him and using him for PPG in Pony Club.

For All Cat Lovers

HOW TO GIVE A CAT A PILL

1) Pick the cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill in. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2) Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat again in left arm and repeat step #1

3) Retrieve cat from bedroom and throw soggy pill away.

4) Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm while holding back paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut to the count of ten.

5) Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from the top of wardrobe.

6) Call spouse from garden

7) Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, holding front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand, while forcing wooden ruler into mouth with the other. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

8) Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make a note self to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

9) Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with ear just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil, insert end of straw and BLOW.

10) Check label to make sure pill is not harmful to humans and drink a Coke to take away the taste. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

11) Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Place cat in cupboard and close door onto neck, just leaving head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with rubber band.

12) Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for last date of tetanus shot. Throw bloody, torn t-shirt away and fetch another from bedroom. Then call fire department to retrieve the cat from the tree across the street.

13) Take last pill from foil wrap. Tie the little bastard's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table. Get heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth, followed by a large piece of steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour two liters of water down throat to wash pill down.

14) Get spouse to drive you to emergency room. Sit quietly while doctor stitches your fingers and forearm, and removes remnants of pill from your eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

15) Arrange for pound to collect cat and call local pet shop to see if they have any cute puppies
