January News

Not too much happening here in January. Hannah and Andrew are looking forward (ha, ha!) to exams at school this week. They have been busy with tests and projects to wrap up the semester. Can't say I miss that at all! Jim continues to be BUSY at work. We just have been getting so much snow and cold weather, their company is having a hard time keeping caught up with all the business. Daniel is longing to ride his bike and sometimes gets it out to see how it goes on the ice and snow. Not very well! But, he keeps trying! The cowgirls (Leah and Julia) are bummed about all the cold, icy weather which makes riding horses tricky. Lots of work, very little play!

Andrew is almost finished with his Driver's Education course and is looking forward to getting his beginner's permit to drive. I think he will do fine, but we are going to send him to "skid school." This is a course that teaches him how to control the vehicle in a skid. He is excited to get to drive (after Feb. 18).

New Year update

Just an update on the Baxter family since 2009 began.

Hannah has FINALLY gotten her own room (sort of) after years of asking to do a house addition. We divided the girls' room into two with a curtain. Hannah now has 1/3 of the room and Julia and Leah share the other 2/3. They still share the closet, but otherwise have everything else separate. We are still trying to figure out how to have light in Hannah's part but not the other part. She gets up 1 hour earlier than Julia and Leah.

Daniel is LOVING his zip zap set he got for Christmas. He is busy trying to figure out how to fix a couple of the cars. It was a large used set we bought on Ebay. Good training for a boy who want to be a mechanic someday!

Andrew is busy working at McDonalds, Leah is busy with basketball, and Julia is trying desperately to shake a cold that she has had since Dec.19. We did finally take her to the Dr. and they put her on some antibiotics, but weren't sure if it was viral or bacterial. She laid around for about 2 weeks before she felt like doing much. That is NOT Julia!

I have starting coaching the girl's basketball team and think it will be a lot of fun. The expectations are not high, but I want to see the girls have fun while learning to play the game. Basketball is not very popular up here, so a lot of people don't know how to play it. We do have some pretty athletic girls, so I am pumped!

Jim has been really busy with work. That is pretty usual for this time of the year. He has worked Saturdays for a couple of months now. That is OK because he would like to use some of his overtime to take time off in the summer for extra vacation. (to ride dirtbikes, I assume!)
