Back in the saddle again
Leah is now back at school and rode her horse again last evening. Her ribs are feeling a bit better, but she still gets sore doing too much. She is supposed to help with soccer refereeing tomorrow, but I am not sure how well she can run. We will play that one by ear, because she doesn't want to miss out on the pay! Andrew is looking forward to going camping with his classmates and teachers for 3 days. He leaves tomorrow morning and comes home Friday afternoon. This is their class trip for grade 8. His graduation is Wed. June 27 and school ends on the 29th. Hannah is preparing the 3 kittens for their new homes. They are supposed to go before we leave for Illinois (Jun. 30) but we want to have them when the Baurers are here so they can enjoy them, too.

Ouch, that hurts
Well, it was bound to happen. Leah went too fast over this burm this Sat. and cracked/broke her ribs. She has been off school all week and is pretty sore. She can't do much but rest because the doctors can't do much for broken ribs. We didn't get x-rays, but are pretty sure they were at least cracked. So, I am not sure how quickly she will heal and don't know how much she will be able to do when we come down in July. And, Julia is home today with a sore noggin from trying to swing with no hands and landing on her head. Thankfully she landed on the grass. Maybe she needs to wear a helmet to swing?!

More Expo pictures
This bottom picture is of lawn mower racing. Never heard of it until this show. They go fairly fast and the drivers seem to have lots of fun. These are not just young guys. (Does this have anything to do with mid life crisis in men?) I wasn't there to see it, but heard it was neat to watch. (My question was, "Do they have the mower deck on and are they mowing while they race?") No, is the answer to that silly question! I don't think there was any push mower or weed eating racing! What will they race next???
Practice, practice, practice
Jim and Andrew have spent lots of hours practicing on their dirtbikes. Can you guess who is who? (if you guessed they were the photographers, you win!) Some of us went to the Great Canandian Outdoor Expo on Sat. and were treated to an FMX (freestyle motocross) show. They were really good.

This weekend's fun
The boys (plus their Dad, not shown) had a lot of fun this weekend racing their bikes. Andrew is riding Jim's and thinks it is great. They like to do drag races in the pasture, but Jim's bike is pretty loud, so we have to be sensitive to the neighbors. On Sunday afternoon, they took both bikes to a local track and did more riding. Meanwhile.....
On Saturday, Hannah enjoyed a shopping trip with her friend Wenonah. That was her wish for her birthday. She would be a good fashion designer or something with fashion. She is also a good shopper, looking for bargains and rarely paying full price. One of the stores we stopped at was Value Village, which is a second-hand store. Some good bargains to be found (I guess she gets that from the Siebenthals.) Meanwhile.....
Sunday afternoon found the horse girls (Leah and Mom) at some friend's house for some riding fun. Leah and her 4 friends are doing a show for their school end-of-the year event. Since they can't take their horses to school to do their performance, they are planning to video tape it and show it on the big screen. They need 8 riders, so some parents got drafted. They are doing a drill team / precision riding routine and it is more work to do than it looks. It was fun and after riding, we all ate supper, and the girls went swimming in their friends' pool. Ahhh, summertime. Long days and easy living!! (and happy, tired, dirty kids)
